DEAUVILLE, FRANCE (Nov. 29, 2016)— As it kicks off the Women’s Forum 2016, the Renault-Nissan Alliance confirms its ongoing commitment to gender equality, which resulted in major advancements for women at both #renault and #nissan during the past year.
Renault and #nissan have promoted several women to key executive leadership positions, including: Véronique Sarlat-Depotte as purchasing Alliance global executive vice president and chairman and managing director of #renault #nissan Purchasing Organization (RNPO); Clotilde Delbos as executive vice president and chief financial officer, Groupe #renault and chairman of the board of RCI Banque; and Mayra Gonzalez as president and managing director, #nissan Mexico.
“Our commitment to gender equality serves our business’s competitiveness as we focus on attracting the best talent around the world,” Alliance Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn said. “We have taken important steps to promote equality at all levels of the Alliance. While we are proud to have one of the industry’s best track records to date, more needs to be done and we remain fully engaged.”
The percentage of women employees at #renault, headquartered in France, and Japan-based #nissan has increased considerably since last year, particularly in manager-level positions.
At #renault, women accounted for 18.8 percent of all employees globally in 2015, up from 18.4 percent in 2014 and 10 percent in 2000. Women accounted for 24.2 percent of the company’s 2,000 global key positions end 2015, up from 22 percent in 2014. In the #auto industry, #renault is a global leader in assigning women to senior positions. Three members of the 12-member Executive Committee are women (up from two out of 11 in
2015): Mouna Sepehri, executive vice president of the Office of the CEO; Marie-Françoise Damesin, executive vice president for Human Resources (Damesin is also Renault-Nissan Alliance executive vice president for Human Resources); and Clotilde Delbos, recently appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer, Groupe #renault and chairman of the board of RCI Banque.
At #nissan, 9.1 percent of managerial positions in Japan are held by women in 2016, up from 8.2 percent in 2015. According to the 2015 statistics from Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, this figure compares favorably with the average of 3.7 percent for all Japanese manufacturers with 1,000 or more employees. Women comprise 7 percent of higher-level managers in Japan in 2016, more than triple the 2 percent in 2008. As of April 2016, women held 13 percent of all the managerial positions at #nissan globally, up from 7 percent in 2008. Nissan’s goal is to increase the percentage of women in managerial positions globally to 14 percent by 2017.
