Legend has it that Odysseus's house was built around an ancient olive tree and that Penelope set up the nuptial bed in the hollows of its trunk. Featured in this age old tale, one of today's home trends with mythical power: starting from nature or from an open space, such as a terrace or garden, and transforming it into an essential part of the home, its harmony inspiring other rooms too.

This will be one of the stand-out trends at #homi Outdoor_Home&Dehors, the new Fiera Milano #event set to take place from 13 - 16 September 2019. The exhibition will feature furniture solutions and decoration for every part of the house, including terraces and balconies, areas which increasingly find themselves at the centre of a true domestic Copernican Revolution: no longer secondary spaces, but real rooms, to be furnished and decorated, often creating a model of harmony to be replicated in other areas of our home.

So for the garden and the balcony, style initiatives are blooming. Thanks to natural materials such as teak, bamboo or wicker, tables and chairs grow instead of plants, with cushions and tablecloths to act as fronds, and prints inspired by nature flower prodigiously in every season.
And then there are the objects, too. Lamps move fluidly in space thanks to the natural materials they are made of: by day they look like stones smoothed by a river, at night they shine like magic light spots.

At #homi Outdoor_Home&Dehors, you'll find endless ways to animate even the smallest of terraces, transforming it, sometimes with no more than an elegant, refined curtain, into an adventurous Tuareg hut, to be discovered with friends and loved ones, with romantic ambience.

But that's not all: vases and bowls enliven outdoor spaces like juicy fruits, creating surprising splashes of colour. The roundness of their shapes and the primordial motifs that adorn them can craft a space. Antique-style amphorae play with light reflections on their rough surface, while on the table at the centre of the balcony, shiny, brightly coloured shaped glasses await guests, amusing in their original appearance, as if they were made of woven leaves or carved from elegant curls of red radicchio.

And who says that a wicker chaise-longue can't work in the lounge? It's the ideal replacement for that heavy leather armchair.
It takes very little to bring outside harmonies in: while the scents of lavender, marjoram and sage compete to win over guests on the balcony, indoors, the most exclusive fragrances can rival those of Spring, creating a different environment each time.
